A Day at the Domes

To finish off our Memorial Day weekend, do some last minute Milwaukee site-seeing, and spend some time with Tara and Andy, we decided to go to the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (also known as the domes). They have three separate domes; one tropical climate, one arid climate, and one rotating exhibit. We started in the special exhibit which is currently "Appalachian Summer." That is the picture to the right. It was so fragrant, the wonderful scents enveloped us as we walked in. There were a lot of beautiful colors and some flowers we already knew by name. The arid climate was hot... go figure... and had one of my favorite plants of the day, the woolly cactus. The tropical climate was lush and also beautiful. After getting our horticulture lesson for the day we got a beverage in the third ward at The Wicked Hop and then had dinner on Cathedral Square at Louise's. The homemade pasta really hit the spot. Overall it was a great day for exploring the city we are getting ready to leave.
